Chapkidz Are the Stunning Dancers to Beat on ‘America’s Got Talent’

The live shows are heating up, and the Chapkidz dance team are sure to have a part in the excitement. With ages ranging from 12 to 18, the young crew dominated their America’s Got Talent audition this season. Chapkidz’s Spanish-themed routine was choreographed by Greg Chapkis of Chapkis Dance, who competed on season 10 of AGT. Now, the young professionals will step up their skills in the live performances tomorrow night.
Chapkidz AGT Audition
In their season 16 audition, Chapkidz performed a stunning routine, utilizing songs from singer, Rosalia. The female dancers showcased long red skirts, fans, and flowers in their hair to coordinate with the theme. Not their usual style, considering they are grounded in hip-hop, but beautiful nonetheless.
Chapkidz formed in 2017 at the Chapkis Dance Studio in California. Inspired by the Chapkis Dance Family who auditioned for season 10, the junior crew is determined to make their own legacy. At the time of their audition, the troupe stood confidently on center stage. Simon Cowell then proceeded to ask the group a series of questions, such as what they would do with the million dollar prize.
“Our coach said he’s gonna take us to Universal Studios,” Chapkidz said jokingly.
All four judges watched in awe during the audition. Terry Crews also made comments from the sidelines, as the crew received a standing ovation. The judging kicked off with a solid yes from Howie Mandel, setting the precedent for the rest of the votes. Now, Chapkidz are one step closer to taking the championship, and surpassing the legacy of the Chapkis Dance Family.
Chapkis Dance Studio
The Chapkidz crew are a product of the well-known Chapkis Dance Studio. The space was used to rehearse for Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma” music video, earning more that 80 million views. Currently, the studio’s YouTube channel has 658,000 subscribers and counting. With these numbers, Chapkis is confident that anything the studio produces has the potential to go viral, including their insanely talented dancers.
The Chapkidz competitive team and training program includes both intermediate and advanced dancers. Winning numerous national and international competitions, the crew features some of the best dancers in the country. Members have also appeared on television, music videos, commercials, world tours, and movies.
Overall, Chapkis Dance Studio was created by world-renowned dancer and choreographer, Greg Chapkis. After winning some of the most respected dance competitions in the world, he sought after a space to create stars as big as the artists he has worked with such as Ozuna, Nicky Jam, and Tyga.
Members of The Chapkis Dance family have also placed top three in some of the most prestigious competitions. These include: Hip-Hop international, Body Rock, VIBE, and World of Dance.
