Shangela

Darius Jeremy Pierce began performing in drag as Shangela in 2009. The performer rose to prominence in the Los Angeles drag scene after choreographing a three-person drag act to “Single Ladies” for a sober charity event. The club’s promoter was so impressed that he offered to book Shangela for the following week.

Shangela rose to fame as part of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The performer competed on season 2 of the show, but was eliminated in the first episode. Shangela returned for the next season, and made the Top 5 of the competition. The performer then competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars season three.
