Reading Time: 2 minutes
American Idol fan favorite Casey Bishop has gone on to find great success following her time on the series. Since the show concluded, she’s been signed to 19 Recordings/BMG at only 16 years old. Now, the rising star has teased the first three minutes of her newest songs and fans can’t wait to hear the rest.
Casey Bishop Teases Alternative Rock Song, is She Teasing an EP?
Since Casey received her record deal, she’s been hard at work on an EP. It seems like early 2022 will be when fans see the beginning of her new releases with 19 recordings/BMG. On monday, the singer shared an Instagram carousel that began with a mirror selfie. Her caption was simple, yet effective, telling fans to swipe left. When you do the motion a video is revealed.
The video is a black screen with video controls on it. It shows that the recording is three minutes and 18 seconds long, yet fans only hear 17 seconds in total. Upon opening the video, you hear a strong bass beat, until Casey’s voice comes in.
“We love to play with the matches/ strike flames and burn down to ashes/ can’t keep away but I hate to stay,” Casey sings in the video.
Casey’s vocals are insanely powerful in the short teaser. Everything about this short snippet of the song is working for her. In general, I think this song sounds like it will land more within the rock genre than her last release “Love Me Leave Me” that was primarily pop. Although this singer proved on American Idol that she can truly succeed with any genre, I like the idea of rock for her.
Casey’s post has a lot of positive comments. Fans of hers are happy to hear new music. On top of her fans, Hunter Metts, Hannah Everhart, Cassandra Coleman, and other American Idol alum shared their support of the upcoming song. Although there is no saying as to when this song will release, it’s safe to assume it is apart of her upcoming EP that she first announced in 2021.
In November, Casey shared that she is in the process of writing and recording songs in Los Angeles for an EP. She has apparently been working with producer and songwriter Chris Greatti since the show ended last year. The singer has shared that they’ve been “writing bangers” in the genre of alternative rock. Considering this song’s genre aligns well with that statement, it’s safe to assume this could be the first track released off of the highly anticipated EP.
