Caitlyn Jenner Receives Backlash For Misgendering Dylan Mulvaney
Jenner is no stranger to having controversy directed at her, oftentimes gaining the attention of the media because of controversial moments. One of the most popular to date was her insensitive remarks toward opposing transgender participation in girls’ sports. It seems like Jenner thrives on gaining publicity through her wrongdoings.
Her most recent issue started when TikTok influencer Mulvaney, who is in the middle of documenting her transition to living as a woman on TikTok, visited the white house. Mulvaney’s appearance talking with President Biden generated media attention that caused her months-old video advocating to normalize “women having bulges” to resurface online.
“Normalize the bulge. We are normalizing the bulge,” Mulvaney said in the video. “Women can have bulges and that’s okay.”
Jenner retweeted the video of Mulvaney, criticizing the TikTok influencer and calling the act an “absurdity,” in the caption. Not stopping there, another tweet from Jenner’s account misgendered Mulvaney in a reply to a tweet.
“He is talking about his penis!” Jenner replied. The tweet would gain the attention of the fans who slammed Jenner on social media. Mulvaney responded to the ridicule from Jenner by posting an almost six minute video on Tiktok.
“Girl, you’re making me sound like I’m some creepy flasher exposing myself!” Mulvaney said. “I was wearing perfectly normal shorts at a mall. A trans person invalidating another trans person’s transness is pretty evil in my eyes.”
Mulvaney expressed her disappointment in Jenner’s attitude showing that she no longer has any desire of getting to know Jenner. The Tiktok influencer finishes the video on a good note saying that she’s “moving on,” from the issue.
Jenner Received Death Threats From the LGBTQ Community
Since posting the tweets, Jenner has claimed to have been receiving death threats from the LGBTQ community. On October 30, Jenner shared her experience amid the controversy surrounding her and her team.
“I have never received more death threats, death threats to my team, nasty hate mail than this week,” Jenner wrote. “It is all from the so-called ‘inclusive’ LGBTQ community. I am so disgusted by the hateful individuals threatening my life for giving my opinions on news topics of the day.”
Jenner explained that someone from her team has mislabeled Mulvaney’s gender, and has been handled internally. The reality star went further into defending her name by sending a representative to explain her side on October 31.
“An individual on Ms. Jenner’s team haphazardly misgendered Dylan.” the representative said.
The representative then said that Jenner “has no further comment on the matter,” and will stand by her statements.
