Amid Britain’s Got Talent season 16’s first episode, fans are taken aback after a shocking audition performance. Apparently, Thomas Vu’s stunt act didn’t sit well with the viewers, thus met with intense backlash online.

Thomas Vu’s Britain’s Got Talent Audition was a Surprising Act

Back in Saturday, Britain’s Got Talent featured professional stunt performer Thomas Vu, who took solving a Rubik’s cube on a different level. During his act, he had himself covered in a fire-retardant gel before being set on fire, all while he tried to figure the cube out.

Before kicking off his performance, Vu explained the risks that he was subjecting himself into. Furthermore, Hosts Ant and Dec warned viewers about the dangers of trying the same.

“Do not try this at home. Ever!” they said.

In addition, on-screen message was visible during the act, reminding everyone not to attempt doing the stunt themselves. Nonetheless, such were seemingly not enough for viewers who happened to take the matter gravely.

Mad Fans Air Complaints to Ofcom

Soon after this stunt was aired, many fans took to social media their disappointment at BGT. Most of the same emphasized how unfriendly the scene was to children.

“Putting that as a ‘surprise’ in the middle of a show that features child performers with a young audience?” one user wrote. “At the very least you should make it perfectly clear beforehand that he’s a pro stuntman and warning people there’ll be fire involved.”

Meanwhile, one fan stated how “disgraceful” the act was, being featured on a “family show.” According to The Mirror, UK communications regulator Ofcom has received 334 complaints about the scene.

For those who may have missed it, all four judges said yes to his audition. Fans are thus curious to see how BGT will be dealing with this issue as Vu has made it to the next round.
