Blake Shelton Prepares for His Final Season in New ‘The Voice’ Promo
The Voice Season 23 is premiering soon, and a new promo focuses on Blake Shelton’s last hurrah as a coach on the show. The video arrives along with news that the show might be changing up its format for the next season.
Blake Shelton Says Goodbye to The Voice in New Promo
Shelton has been a coach on every season of The Voice since its premiere, and he announced last year that Season 23 will be his last. But as the promo shows, he’s not quite done bickering with his fellow coaches.
“After 23 seasons…” Shelton can be heard telling a contestant in the clip. Coach Kelly Clarkson, who is returning after taking Season 22 off, jumps in to say, “He’s so tired.” Shelton responds by pointing at his fellow coaches and saying, “I am tired of this.”
And it’s not just Clarkson who’s butting heads with Shelton this season. New coach Niall Horan is also getting in on the fun, as he’s shown dressing like the veteran coach and saying, “I feel like a young you.”
Shelton also isn’t done pointing at himself to get artists to join his team. In fact, this season he’s gone over-the-top with the tradition, as the promo shows a giant red finger coming down from the ceiling that reads, “Pick Blake.”
Is the Show’s Format Changing This Season?
The show’s two new coaches (also including Chance the Rapper) might not be the only change The Voice is making for Season 23. As Heavy reports, the show might be pre-recording the Playoffs this time around.
Usually, the show pre-tapes the Auditions, Battles, and Knockouts. The remaining artists then move on to the Live Playoffs, where fans at home are allowed to vote for who moves on. However, it looks like the show plans to record Playoff episodes in February, ahead of the March premiere.
Free tickets for the show are currently available on the website 1iota. This week, the Battles are scheduled to be taped. The Knockouts appear to be scheduled for February 7. The website also lists tapings on February 14 and February 22 for the Season 23 Playoffs.
Be sure to tune in to the Season 23 The Voice premiere on Monday, March 6, at 8/7c on NBC.
