Some things in life are givens. The sun will rise in the East, taxes are due in April, and Blake Shelton and Adam Levine will be coaches on The Voice. It has been this way for 13 seasons. But increasingly there have been rumors that Blake and Adam are sick of doing the show and want to move on. This is unthinkable and the producers certainly think so. They reportedly offered them a buttload of cash to stay.
Blake is by far the most popular coach on The Voice. He’s also won half of the seasons. Adam is also a fixture of the show and the bickering and sniping between he and Blake is one of the most fun aspects of the show. Just the hint that they might be leaving reportedly caused the producers to panic and offer the 5 million dollars each as a bonus if they stay through 2020. That’s 5 million over what they already make, which is a lot.
I get it from their perspective. A show like The Voice is a steady income, which is nice, but it also takes up a lot of your time. It’s not like these guys are only TV personalities. Each one has a super successful music career that taping The Voice takes them away from. I’m so paranoid about being out of work that I would probably stay forever…then again I’m not a multi-millionaire.
