In the videos posted on his Instagram account, Brundage is holding a basketball while pleading with cops not to arrest him. He gestures to a person nearby to take his phone.

“Free Steven Brundage and Basketball. He was arrested today for playing basketball at the Venice Beach Courts” the caption says.

The second video shows Brundage cuffed and taken away by an officer while a woman narrates what is going on. Fans flooded the comments section wondering if the arrest was real or if it was just a prank:

“Bro is the real?” one person asked.

“What happened? Are you alright??” another asked.

Other fans pointed out that Brundage was wiggling his fingers in the handcuffs as the cop whisked him away. They believe this signals he was either planning an escape or is trolling everyone.

“You had to escape those cuffs!” one comment says.

“I know this shit was real but I also know you Houdini’d the shit out of those handcuffs and stole $20 from the cops without them knowing,” wrote another.

In 2014, Brundage went viral for using his magic to get out of a speeding ticket. He was pulled over for speeding after an event and the police officers were curious when he told them that he is a magician. He performed a trick for them and left without a ticket.

A few comments also suggested that the Venice basketball courts might be closed due to the ongoing pandemic. They think this may have caused the arrest.

Brundage Was a Fan Favorite Act On ‘AGT’

At the time of his America’s Got Talent audition, Brundage said that he was the only person in the world doing Rubik’s Cube magic. His act combined comedy and very intricate tricks that impressed Simon Cowell.

Brundage was sent to the Judge Cuts where he incorporated a deck of playing cards into his routine. The judges did not send him into the Quarterfinals. However, he was brought back as a Wild Card. In this routine, he created a portrait of Brad Pitt out of Rubik’s cubes with a little help from Nick Cannon.

He was eliminated after his Semifinals performance where he and Howie Mandel managed to mix up their Rubik’s cube to be identical on all sides.
