‘American Idol’s Laci Kaye Booth Releases New Music Video for “Shuffle”
American Idol season 17 finalist Laci Kaye Booth dropped a music video for her 2021 hit “Shuffle.” This song pays homage to some of the biggest songs in country music history. “Shuffle” is a hit because of the upbeat tune and memory of the influential tunes.
Laci teased this video on her social media in the days leading up to its release. Within her teasers, Laci sports a red lip, cream colored headband, and a messy ponytail. “Shuffle” originally premiered on CMT on Jan 26.
In the video, Laci is working at a record store, checking out the shoppers. She then puts in her AirPods to distract from the male gaze. The song itself is focusing on the music she’s listening to more so than the men surrounding her. The song pays homage to some of the greatest female country artists. Laci loosely mentions songs by Carrie Underwood, The Chicks, Miranda Lambert, Shania Twain, and Tammy Wynette.
The entire song is extremely upbeat and talks about the country playlist she’s always listening to. By the end of the video one of the men in the room offers her an AirPod, he begins a song and they begin to slow dance together. I think the music video for this tune matches the song really well. It’s a passionate song, but not one for a very over the top video. I think this video compliments the vibe of the song really well. The video is all about a girl having fun working in a record store, listening to influential country tunes. The tone of the song works extremely well with the narrative.

Laci has been quite the rising star in the country music genre. In 2021, she released her self titled album, which includes songs like “Shuffle,” “Treasure,” “If He Would’ve Stayed,” and more. This eight track album helped Laci become a more well known name in the country music genre.
Recently, she has been named to CMT’s Next Women of Country class of 2022. This celebration of women in country music strives to spotlight ten talented females on the path to ultimate country music stardom. The class of 2022 is featured in a three hour television special including individual interviews and performances. On top of the three hour special, CMT is the new sponsor of their class of 2022.
