Nick Fradiani on American Idol

The Connecticut native auditioned for season 14 of American Idol in 2015. Before winning the show as a solo artist, Nick Fradiani auditioned for the ninth season of America’s Got Talent. Here, he appeared with his band Beach Avenue. After being cut during judgement week, the singer decided to try his luck on Idol.

On this show, he audition with “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel. He earned his golden ticket into Hollywood and was successful in the group rounds. There, he sang “Babylon” by David Gray which advanced him to showcase week. He performed “Drops of Jupiter” by Train, and landed himself in the top 24. At this stage, he sang “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. Fradiani was then voted through to the finals and once again sang, “In Your Eyes.” For the top eight, he sang Kelly Clarkson’s “Catch My Breath,” and Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” in the top seven.

He was declared safe week after week, and made it through to the top five. At this stage, he performed “Harder to breathe” by Maroon 5, and Rod Stewart’s “Maggie Ray.” In the top three, contestants had to perform songs of Scott Borchetta’s choice, the judges’ choice, and their hometown’s choice to secure a spot in the finale. At the final stage he sang a number of songs including his winner’s single “Beautiful Life.”
