Nick Fradiani on American Idol

The Connecticut native auditioned for season 14 of American Idol in 2015. Before winning the show as a solo artist, Nick Fradiani auditioned for the ninth season of America’s Got Talent. Here, he appeared with his band Beach Avenue. After being cut during judgement week, the singer decided to try his luck on Idol.

On this show, he audition with “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel. He earned his golden ticket into Hollywood and was successful in the group rounds. There, he sang “Babylon” by David Gray which advanced him to showcase week. He performed “Drops of Jupiter” by Train, and landed himself in the top 24. At this stage, he sang “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. Fradiani was then voted through to the finals and once again sang, “In Your Eyes.” For the top eight, he sang Kelly Clarkson’s “Catch My Breath,” and Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” in the top seven.

He was declared safe week after week, and made it through to the top five. At this stage, he performed “Harder to breathe” by Maroon 5, and Rod Stewart’s “Maggie Ray.” In the top three, contestants had to perform songs of Scott Borchetta’s choice, the judges’ choice, and their hometown’s choice to secure a spot in the finale. At the final stage he sang a number of songs including his winner’s single “Beautiful Life.”

The Artist Today

Post Idol, Fradiani released an album entitled Hurricane in 2016. He also released a six-song EP the following year. As a touring artist, the champion has shared the stage with the likes of One Republic,, DNCE, Rachel Platten, James Bay, and Rob Thomas.

Most recently, Fradiani released his latest single, “Never Gonna,” available now across all platforms. The mid-tempo bop came along right in time to to kick off the summer season. Fradiani’s sound here is very reminiscent to that of the band, Train. So, if you like Train, you’ll love Nick Fradiani’s new song.

“I’m never gonna walk away from you, this man ain’t going no where I promise you, crying over me is something you’ll never do, no I’m never gonna walk away from you.” He sings romantically in the songs chorus.

This September, you can also catch the Idol winner in concert. That month, he will kick off the Where We Left Off tour, stopping in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Nashville. Don’t miss your chance to see the artist live in a city near you.
