Reading Time: 2 minutes
The American Idol Season 23 premiere is getting closer, as the show’s judges and host are flashing back to the early days of their careers. That includes new judge Carrie Underwood, who won the show in Season 4.
American Idol Promo Includes Flashbacks for Judges, Host
The new promo starts with longtime host Ryan Seacrest picking up a book titled American Idol and marveling at “how many lives Idol‘s changed.” The book then gets passed around between Seacrest and the judges — Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
“You never forget that moment that changed everything,” says Bryan as he opens the book to reveal an image of himself early on in his career. It turns into a video of himself performing and telling fans to “keep dreaming.”
Then Seacrest puts a framed photo on the table in which he can be seen addressing auditioning singers during the early days of American Idol. After that, Richie pulls a record off the shelf, revealing a video from his time performing as part of the Commodores.
And finally, Underwood turns on a television set that plays the moment she was announced as the winner of American Idol. This year marks two decades since her victory, as she returns to the show as a judge.
