‘American Idol’ Frontrunner Fritz Hager Celebrates EP Hitting No. 1 on iTunes Charts

In the recent weeks of American Idol, it’s become clear that Fritz Hager has pulled ahead in the competition. This 21 year old singer has recent hit some career heights with his recently released EP. Could iTunes trends be once again predicting the winner of American Idol?
I think it’s safe to say that Fritz Hager has officially pulled ahead as a fan favorite in the American Idol competition. After yet another impressive on stage performance, Fritz acknowledged that this past week has been crazy for him. He noted that his EP hit No. 1 on the pop charts while on the Disney Night American Idol stage. If the competition’s prior pattern plays out, this could be very telling for the singer.
Fritz Hager Tops the iTunes Charts
Fritz shared a screenshot of his EP hitting No. 1 on the iTunes pop album charts. At the time, Fritz’s EP was also No. 7 on the iTunes overall charts. Ahead of American Idol, Fritz fundraised money for this self-titled EP on Kickstarter. With the help of 33 backers, Fritz raised more than his goal of $6,000.
“I’m still in shock right now. This afternoon, in just a few hours, my debut EP climbed the pop charts to #1, and is currently #7 overall,” Fritz wrote. “All I can say is thank you to everyone who listened, everyone who backed the kickstarter, and the amazing people who helped make it possible.”
Fritz’s EP remains on the separate iTunes charts following Disney Night on American Idol. The self-titled EP sits at No. 1 on the iTunes pop albums chart, but has went up to No. 6 on the iTunes overall album charts.
Earlier in the competition, country singer HunterGirl was seen climbing the charts behind last year’s winner Chayce Beckham. On April 21, HunterGirl’s EP sat at No. 5 on the Top albums chart, as well as No. 41 on the Top singles chart. Since then, HunterGirl’s EP remains on the iTunes country charts as No. 24.
Last season, fans were able to predict that Chayce Beckham was the winner of the competition due to his popularity on the iTunes charts. If this season follows suit It’s possible we’ll see both Fritz and HunterGirl earn titles during the upcoming finale.
