‘American Idol’ Alum Hunter Metts Teases New Music on the Way
American Idol alum Hunter Metts teased that he has new music on the way. The singer made his return to Instagram in a cinematic image. Hunter announced that his new single “Open” will be available on February 25. This is Hunter’s first post on social media since October 2021. He also went private on his Twitter as he worked on his new music.
“Hey there, it’s been a little while. My new song “Open” will be out February 25th,” Hunter wrote.
Fans have not heard from the singer since he released “20,000 Kisses” during the summer of 2021. The video has close to 100,000 views on YouTube and the song hit No. 1 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts. The Tennessee native was on a roll after his stint on Idol. He appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show, sold out the Franklin Theater for two nights, and performed a Christmas show with fellow Idol alum Cassandra Coleman.
“Thank you all for giving me time to figure out a bit more of myself and create at a pace that allows me to make the best art I can. Excited to share this with you,” Hunter continued.
The singer knows that fans are eagerly waiting for new music and an album. Hunter was a favorite to win American Idol Season 19, but he was eliminated in the Top 7. Fans were outraged and even started a petition to have the singer back in the competition.
Hunter Metts the Artist
During Season 19 of Idol viewers came to know and love the passion and sensitivity of Hunter. Fans remember the soft spoken singer as the contestant who constantly approved with each performance. He made hearts melt during a moment where he forgot the lyrics to “Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard. Hunter showed his vulnerableness and had to be comforted by judge Katy Perry.
Hunter’s passion for his musicianship also showed during his season of Idol. His standout performances with both Perry and singer Jewel, were highlights during Season 19. With his deep care for his artistry, it’s no wonder why he took so much time to announce his new single.
