Angelica Hale Marks 10 Years Since Kidney Transplant
When she was 4 years old, Angelica contracted bacterial pneumonia, which caused septic shock and organ failure, including her kidneys. She spent a year and a half on dialysis before she received a kidney transplant from her mother Eva Bolando.
On Wednesday, Angelica shared a set of photos showing her and her mom in the hospital together around the time of her transplant. She wrote that it’s been a decade since she “was given another chance at life, since my beautiful mother gave me her kidney and saved me.”
After her transplant, Angelica says she realized that “taking life for granted was no longer an option.” As the years have passed, she admits that she sometimes forgets “that there was once a time when each day could very well be my last.”
Angelica wrote that she and her mother “are always bonded by something deeper than our words.” She also thanked her fans “for all the blessings and support you all have given me since the very beginning.”
