America’s Got Talent Season 21 returned on Tuesday night with another round of auditions, as judge Mel B pressed the Golden Buzzer for singer Isaac Atkins. Some fans on Reddit disagreed with Mel’s choice.
AGT Fans Disagree with Mel B’s Golden Buzzer
Army sergeant Isaac Atkins performed “Beggin'” during Tuesday’s new episode of AGT, showing off a soulful voice that wowed judge Mel B. Before any of the other judges had a chance to share their thoughts on Isaac’s performance, she pressed the Golden Buzzer to send him straight to the live shows.
Not everyone agreed with her choice, as a fan on the show’s subreddit posted, “WTH WAS THAT MEL GOLDEN BUZZER I HATE MEL ON AGT.” Some users shared their opinion that Mel only pressed the Golden Buzzer because she found Isaac attractive.
“Bro picked the easiest song to sing, gave about 25%, and somehow got a golden buzzer,” one fan wrote. “Genuinely the worst GB this season and the bar is already through the floor.”
Other fans thought it was humorous that Mel rushed the press the Golden Buzzer before her fellow judges, when it didn’t seem like any of them were particularly interested in pressing it.
“Mel B just needs to be replaced at this rate,” one fan wrote in the aforementioned Reddit thread. Others seem to agree, as another thread from Tuesday night is titled, “What is wrong with Mel B on AGT this year?”
One fan in the comments complained about Mel’s enjoyment of a bizarre act from this week’s show featuring a man who quickly spun a sign. Someone else wrote, “Not sure what’s happening. She was great last year, but she’s taken a step back this year. I hope she’s ok.”
Although Mel seems to enjoy some acts that fans dislike, she’s also been known to dislike more popular acts. As one fan wrote, “She wants so bad to be what Simon used to be on American Idol, only she doesn’t have a fraction of the charisma and savvy for performance and stardom that he did in those days, and now.”
