Grammy-winning singer and songwriter, Adele, has been taking the stage in Las Vegas during her highly-anticipated residency. While her performances have garnered rave reviews and generated substantial revenue, the “Hello” singer recently shared a surprising and personal challenge she’s faced during her shows: a fungal skin infection.
Adele Contracted Jock Itch From Her Las Vegas Shows
During a recent performance, Adele candidly opened up to her audience about her unexpected health issue. She revealed that her rigorous show schedule, combined with the heat from the stage lights and the tight-fitting outfits she wears to ensure her costumes fit perfectly, has created an environment ripe for developing a fungal infection.
The singer went on to share that she noticed symptoms of the infection and sought medical advice, ultimately receiving a diagnosis of a common skin condition often associated with athletes. Known as jock itch, this fungal infection typically affects areas of the body prone to sweat and moisture, such as the groin and inner thighs.
In a moment of lighthearted transparency, Adele described her treatment regimen, which involves applying a medicated cream to the affected areas. She joked about the irony of having an ailment commonly linked to athletes, despite her primary occupation being far removed from sports.
With several months remaining in her Las Vegas residency, Adele will need to manage her new health concern while continuing to deliver stellar performances to her adoring fans. This incident serves as a reminder that even famous singers are not immune to everyday health challenges.
Her Extended Las Vegas Residency is One of Her Best Yet
Adele is currently basking in the joy of her extended Las Vegas residency, “Weekends With Adele,” at the renowned Colosseum in Caesar’s Palace. In March, Adele announced her decision to prolong the residency, stating that playing to 4,000 people for 34 nights simply wasn’t enough for her.
“I know it’s not enough,” Adele said. “So I am coming back.” To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to witness her spectacular show, she plans to capture and release concert footage for wider accessibility.”
Now, concert dates for Adele’s residency will extend until November 4. The singer has designated a few weeks in June, more dates throughout the summer, and additional shows in the fall to mesmerize her fans. Adele’s Vegas run has been a tremendous success, providing an intimate setting for genuine connections with her devoted followers.
