Reading Time: 2 minutes
American Idol Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert is set to make his Broadway debut this fall in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, a revival of the iconic musical. Lambert will replace Eddie Redmayne as the Emcee, while Moana star Auli’i Cravalho will star as Sally Bowles.
Adam Lambert to Make Broadway Debut in Cabaret
Lambert and Cravalho will appear in Cabaret at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City starting September 16. Tickets are currently available through March of next year. The actors are replacing Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin, who performed as the leads when the show premiered in the spring.
“Growing up on the musical theater stage, it was always a childhood dream to perform on Broadway,” Lambert said in a statement. “With this production of ‘Cabaret,’ it finally felt like the right time to accept an invitation to make my debut. The themes of this show have always resonated with me and given the current sociopolitical climate the world is in, feel eerily timely.”
Lambert performed in theater productions when he was younger, and he even majored in musical theater during his brief time studying at California State University, Fullerton. Before American Idol, he appeared in the first national touring production of Wicked, as an understudy for Fiyero and an ensemble member.
