‘DWTS’ Fans Are Unhappy with the Super Bowl Night Guest Judge

Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough, and Carrie Ann Inaba for 'Dancing With the Stars' 2026

Next week’s new episode of Dancing with the Stars Season 35 will be Super Bowl Night, featuring sportscaster Joe Buck as a guest judge. Some fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with this choice, offering several other preferred options such as former DWTS co-host Erin Andrews.

DWTS Fans Unhappy with Joe Buck as Guest Judge

Tuesday’s new episode of DWTS will feature dances set to songs from past Super Bowl Halftime Shows. In keeping with the theme, NFL announcer Joe Buck will sit on the panel as a guest judge alongside Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli.

Many fans have expressed their disappointment with the show’s choice to have Buck join the show, when there are so many football-connected stars with ties to DWTS. Several fans wondered why sportscaster Erin Andrews, who previously co-hosted the show with Tom Bergeron, wasn’t invited back to the ballroom.

Fans on Reddit pointed out that a number of former football players have competed on DWTS in the past, and a few of them (Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward, and Donald Driver) have even won the Mirrorball trophy.

“Bringing in guest judges who know nothing about dance is one of my least favorite things the show does,” one Reddit user wrote. “He is going to give zero helpful commentary and just waste time as they all do.”
