The Voice returned to NBC on Tuesday night for the second episode of this week’s Season 30 premiere, with even more Blind Auditions. The night began and ended with a four-chair turn. In one case, coach Adam Levine predicted that the singer will win the entire competition.
The Voice Season 30 Returns with Four-Chair Turns
The first Blind Audition of Tuesday night’s new The Voice episode came from 15-year-old singer Koumba Diallo, who delivered a powerhouse rendition of “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato. Koumba’s talent was so impressive, she turned all four coaches’ chairs, with Adam Levine turning at the last minute.
The coaches each made their pitches for why Koumba should join their team, with Queen Latifah praising the young singer’s lower register. Ultimately, however, Koumba chose to join Team Kelly. Clarkson seemed shocked to be chosen.
At the end of the night, we saw yet another four-chair turn when Lexi Stephens took the stage to sing “Die on This Hill” by Sienna Spiro. The Voice coaches were wowed by Lexi’s talent, with Levine saying it was the best Blind Audition of the season “so far.” He even predicted she’ll win the entire competition.
Riley Green agreed that Lexi is an incredible singer, calling her the “most talented person” they’ve seen for far this season. When it came time to find out which coach’s team Lexi would choose to join, the show left us on a cliffhanger. We’ll find out Lexi’s decision in Wednesday night’s new episode.
During Tuesday’s episode, Kelly Clarkson became the second coach to use this season’s new “First In” button, after Queen Latifah used it in Monday’s episode. The new feature replaces the “Block” button, allowing a coach to claim an artist for their team if they were the first to turn around during their audition.
Clarkson used the button on an artist named Johnnie Kapua, who performed “Die with a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. Along with Clarkson, Queen Latifah also turned around for Johnnie’s performance. Clarkson didn’t want to risk losing Johnnie, so she used her “First In” button to get him on her team.
Other impressive Blind Auditions from Tuesday’s show came from Alt Bloom, who joined Team Queen with his performance of “The Bones” by Maren Morris; and Harmony McKee, who shocked the coaches when she revealed that her cover of “Gunpowder & Lead” by Miranda Lambert was her first time performing a country song. Harmony went all in on the new genre, choosing to join Team Riley.
