Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro returned Monday night on ABC for the Semifinals, as the remaining four dancers competed for a spot in the season finale. Former DWTS pro Kym Johnson served as a guest judge, as the contestants were tasked with putting together two routines.
DWTS: The Next Pro Contestants Dance with Current Pros
For the first round of Monday’s episode, each of the four remaining contestants on DWTS: The Next Pro was paired with an existing pro and tasked with teaching them a Latin routine. All creative choices in the dance were left up to the contestants.
First up, Allen was paired with Witney Carson and tasked with choreographing a jive routine. Shirley Ballas wished there were more “wow moments” in the performance, but Mark Ballas disagreed, calling it his favorite jive routine of the season.
Next up, Selena was paired with Jan Ravnik. Their salsa routine impressed the panel, with Mark Ballas saying Selena “nailed the brief.” Kym Johnson called her a “star” and praised the “clever choreography,” while Shirley Ballas loved the pair’s chemistry.
Adele was paired with Gleb Savchenko, dancing a samba. Johnson said they “absolutely nailed it,” while Mark Ballas called it “damn near perfect.” Shirley Ballas described them as a “power couple,” but she once again wished for more “wow moments.”
Last but not least, AJ teamed up with Rylee Arnold to perform a cha-cha routine. Although Arnold described AJ as “kind of intense” as a teacher, their routine ended up wowing the judges. Shirley Ballas said it “captured the essence of cha-cha,” although Mark Ballas wanted more “soul and funk and grit.”

Who Made It to the Season Finale?
For the second round of Monday’s episode, the remaining four dancers were paired with each other to perform a ballroom routine. Selena and Allen danced a quickstep that had both Kym Johnson and Mark Ballas praising their musicality.
Next up, Adele and AJ danced a foxtrot which Mark Ballas called “gorgeous,” praising it as “true, classic ballroom.” Johnson described it as “perfection.” The judges had a tough decision ahead of them, as one contestant had to go home.
Shirley Ballas called this an “exceptional Semifinal” episode. At the end of the night, Allen was unfortunately eliminated from the competition. That means that Adele, AJ, and Selena will compete in next week’s finale, and one of them will be named the winner of DWTS: The Next Pro.
