Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Gleb Savchenko has responded to Season 35 contestant Maura Higgins’ comments about not wanting to dance with him on the show. Higgins brought up Savchenko’s romance with Season 33 contestant Brooks Nader.
Gleb Savchenko Responds to Maura Higgins
In May, after Love Island UK star Maura Higgins was announced as a cast member on the upcoming new season of DWTS, she shared that she would be happy dancing with “anyone except Gleb,” adding, “That’s only because I’m loyal and I’m friends with Brooks [Nader].”
“I don’t really like the way he speaks about women,” Higgins said of Savchenko, who dated Nader for several months before publicly stating that he had “the worst sex of my life” with her.
Earlier this month, Savchenko responded to Higgins’ comments, telling People, “Until I was asked to comment on this story, I’d genuinely never heard of Maura, so I was quite surprised to learn she’d spoken about me so negatively.”
“We’ve never met, and she doesn’t know me personally, so it’s disappointing to be judged based on a one-sided version of events rather than the facts,” Savchenko added.
The full cast for Season 35 of DWTS, including pros, will not be announced until September 2. However, Gleb Savchenko recently hinted that he won’t be back in the ballroom this year, responding to a fan inquiring about him returning, “I’m not.”
However, some fans pointed out that he also seemed to be out of the competition ahead of Season 34, before joining the cast with celebrity partner Hilaria Baldwin. So it’s possible that he will still return despite saying otherwise. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
