Keaton Kermode, a dancer on Derek Hough’s Symphony of Dance tour, recently shared that he suffered an injury and will have to step away from performing. Dancing with the Stars fans are wondering if this might affect the show’s troupe going into Season 35.
Derek Hough’s Dancer Injured on Tour
Dancer Keaton Kermode has recently been performing on Derek Hough’s Symphony of Dance tour, having previously served as a swing on Dancing with the Stars. Unfortunately, Kermode was injured during a recent performance, and he shared that he has “fully torn” his Achilles tendon.
Kermode updated fans in an Instagram video earlier this week, saying he’s had “the most amazing time” on Derek Hough’s tour and is “so grateful for this whole opportunity.” Although it will take some time for him to heal, he promised fans that he’ll be back to dancing “sooner rather than later.”
Fans on the DWTS subreddit discussed the news of Kermode’s injury, with a poster pointing out that he is now “almost certainly out of consideration for troupe” on Season 35 of the show. They added, “I wonder if this opens an opportunity for one of the Next Pro guys.”
Currently, a DWTS spinoff show called The Next Pro is airing on ABC, with the winner going on to become a pro on Season 35 of the show. It’s not clear if any of the other contestants might have a chance to be troupe members.

“Ugh, this is sad for him he’s basically gonna be recovering for the rest of the year,” wrote one Reddit user about Kermode’s injury, while someone else commented, “So sad! I got to meet him before I saw tour and he told me that he didn’t know if he’d be on yet but that making troupe was something he [was] really hoping to do. I hate that it’s been delayed.”
“Oh no! I was hoping that we’d see him if there’s a male opening on troupe,” wrote another fan. Others wished him a speedy recovery, noting that it must be extremely disappointing for Kermode not to be able to dance for a while.
