On Monday night, Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro premiered on ABC, as 12 dancers began to compete for a chance to become the newest pro on DWTS Season 35. Fans shared their thoughts on Reddit, and opinions seem mixed.

During Monday’s series premiere of The Next Pro on ABC, the DWTS subreddit opened a discussion thread where fans were encouraged to share their thoughts on the show. Reactions were mixed, with some viewers expressing excitement while other were underwhelmed.

“I loved the show. Mark [Ballas] was amazing as judge. Can’t wait for more,” wrote one user in the thread, while someone else commented, “I enjoyed this premiere a lot! Solid group of dancers and I liked hearing the judges give specific, constructive feedback.”

Another fan wrote that they “actually liked it more than I thought I would,” adding that guest judge Derek Hough was “the best mentor ever.” Some fans enjoyed the show so much that they wished it was longer than just an hour.

Not Everyone Enjoyed the Premiere

Not all of the reactions to Monday’s premiere of The Next Pro were positive. One user called it a “major letdown,” adding, “The format of the show needs work. I can tell they’re trying to make it more of a reality show with the house and backstory drama.”

Another user penned a lengthy response to the episode, writing, “Not the best premiere, it was rough mostly because of editing.” They added, “I don’t love Derek as a judge but he IS a great mentor. He knows what he’s talking about and I loved the advice he gave everyone.”
