America’s Got Talent is set to air another audition episode on NBC on Tuesday, July 14. Ahead of the new episode, NBC has released a sneak peek clip on YouTube. The video starts out with restaurant owner Ashford Sanders introducing himself, and sharing a bit about his good, but not healthy restaurant Ashford’s Kitchen.
From there, Ashford begins singing “What Was I Made For” by Billie Eilish. The room is absolutely silent as everyone in the audience is captivated by Ashford’s voice. His rendition of the song featured various runs that showed off how silky smooth his voice really is.
Immediately after the performance, audience was seen getting out of their seat for the singer. Additionally, the singer said he was “feeling it,” after the performance.
It was no surprise that judges adored this performance, since you could truly hear a pin drop during the audition. Mel B even compared Ashford’s voice to Luther Vandross, Alexander O’Neal, Raphael Saadiq, Tony Tone, and more.
“Your voice is like a warm blanket, it just covers you and makes us all comfortable and makes us want to smile,” Howie Mandel said. “It was a beautiful.”
From there, Sofia Vergara stated that she could “love to you forever.” She even admitted she didn’t want the audition to end!
“I think, you are a gifted, brilliant singer, beautiful tone,” Simon Cowell said. “I mean there are so many songs out there that you could re-interpret and you come over as a really sweet person as well.”
