‘BGT’ Recap: Simon Cowell Hits Golden Buzzer as Semifinals Continue

Britain’s Got Talent Series 19 returned over the weekend for another episode of the Semifinals. During the show, judge Simon Cowell pressed the Golden Buzzer for poet Sonny Green, while the public voted to send another act through to the finale.

Simon Cowell Hits Golden Buzzer During BGT Semifinals

During Saturday’s new episode of BGT Series 19, poet Sonny Green returned to the stage to deliver a performance dedicated to his sons. The emotional speech finished with Sonny’s kids running up on stage and hugging him. It brought tears to the judges’ eyes.

Alesha Dixon told Sonny that he’s “just magic.” As a mother, Amanda Holden said that “all of that meant to so much to me.” KSI was in tears as he told Sonny that the performance “really hit me,” as it made him think of his relationship with his father.

The crowd chanted for the Golden Buzzer, and judge Simon Cowell was the one to answer the call. Before he did the honors, Cowell said, “Sonny, all I can say is you are gold.” Sonny is going straight into the Series 19 finale.

Which Act Earned the Public’s Vote?

At the end of this week’s new Semifinals episode, three acts were announced as having received the most votes from the public for their performances: freestyle rapper Ren DMC, singing group Glantaf Boys Choir, and magician Rafferty Coope.

Ultimately, it was announced that Rafferty Coope earned the most votes from the public and would move on to the Series 19 finale, while the other two acts were unfortunately eliminated. Rafferty is a 17-year-old magician who earned a Golden Buzzer from KSI for his audition.

During this week’s Semifinals episode, Rafferty returned to the stage to combine music and magic in a unique performance. He used numbers seemingly chosen at random by the judges to predict which song he would perform. The panel was blown away, with KSI telling him, “You are special.”
