The Voice Season 26 will return on Monday for another round of Battles. The show has shared an early release clip featuring artists on coach Gwen Stefani’s team. They performed a Sam Smith song together in the hope of being chosen to go to the Knockouts.

Team Gwen Artists Perform in The Voice Early Release Battle

In the early release clip, Austyns Stancil and Jose Luis took the stage for their Battle to “Lay Me Down” by Sam Smith. Both singers showed off an incredible range and great stage presence. Their performance clearly impressed the coaches.

Both artists turned four chairs with their Blind Auditions earlier this season. Although the entire panel of coaches wanted to get the singers on their teams, both Austyns and Jose chose to compete on Gwen Stefani’s team.

Stefani was already conflicted about which artists she should pick while Austyns and Jose were still singing. During the Battle, she turned to her fellow coach Michael Bublé and asked, “What am I going to do?”

What Did the Coaches Think?

McEntire praised the performance, pointing out that even though Austyns and Jose have very different voices, they both have huge range. She called the Battle “polished and perfect,” adding, “It’s like you guys have been singing forever together.”

Snoop Dogg said it didn’t feel like a Battle, because the singers were working together. He added, “Whichever one of you don’t make it, I’ll be taking you.” The coaches each have two steals to use during the Battles this season.

Bublé seemed to agree that one of the artists would end up being stolen. He waxed poetic about “the kindness and the goodness of Gwen Stefani to gift one of you to us.” McEntire agreed, jokingly calling Stefani “a giver.”

It’s up to Stefani to decide which artist she wants to keep on her team. The coach said Austyns and Jose “made me look so good,” adding that they could both win the season. We’ll have to wait until Monday night’s show to find out who she chose.
