Blake Shelton appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show this week. The former coach on The Voice admitted that he doesn’t miss the show after leaving earlier this year. Shelton told Hudson that he “stayed too long.”
Blake Shelton Says He Doesn’t Miss The Voice
Earlier this year, Shelton left The Voice after 23 seasons as a coach and nine wins with artists on his team. When Hudson asked if he misses the show since he left, the country star admitted, “Not yet. I don’t.”
“To be totally honest about it, I wasn’t even planning on being there that long,” Shelton shared. “I was planning on wrapping it up around 20 seasons or 21 seasons. And then obviously COVID hit, and then I didn’t want to walk out on the show in the middle of COVID … So I stayed. I didn’t have anything else to do anyway.”
Shelton said he “stayed too long for me to now miss it.” However, he did get a pretty great parting gift after he left the show — his spinning red chair. He called it “the one thing I wanted to take home from The Voice.”
Shelton Reacts to Niall Horan’s Impression of Him
Recently, Shelton’s fellow The Voice coach Niall Horan appeared on Hudson’s show. During his appearance, he showed off his best impression of Shelton. Hudson played the clip for the country singer during his interview.
“I actually love that kid,” Shelton said of Horan. “And what’s sad is that we only got to work together on the very last season … But we stay in touch still now. He’s a great kid.”
During his conversation with Hudson, Shelton also voiced his approval of former The Voice coach Usher headlining next year’s Super Bowl halftime show. He joked, “I haven’t gotten a phone call from him yet to join him … but I am very excited for him and proud of him.”
