A new iteration of the UK competition All Star Musicals is headed to ITV later this year. The show challenges a group of celebrities to try their hand at musical theater, with the help of professionals in the field. This year’s cast was just revealed.

‘All Star Musicals’ Returns to UK TV in 2022

The cast of celebrities for this year’s All Star Musicals was announced in a press release. The competition will feature TV presenters Alex Beresford and Michaela Strachan, rugby player Danny Care, and actors Jacqueline Jossa, Lisa George, and Colin Salmon.

The stars will be mentored by theater pros Elaine Paige, Samantha Barks, and Trevor Dion Nicholas. They’ll be trained by West End choreographers and vocal coaches and be backed up on stage by a live orchestra and ensemble.

The special will also include a performance from The Phantom of the Opera to mark the show’s 35th anniversary on the West End. The show’s mentors will also join host John Barrowman for a performance from Grease.

The new All Star Musicals competition will premiere on ITV and ITV Hub this spring.

Who Won the Competition in Past Years?

The first All Star Musicals premiered in 2017. Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon won the competition with her performance of “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” from Evita. Her competition included actress Sally Phillips and radio presenter Nicky Campbell.

The special returned for another competition in 2019. The win went to another Coronation Street actor, Daniel Brocklebank, who performed “From Now On” from The Greatest Showman. He was up against actress Amy Walsh and comedian London Hughes, among others.

All Star Musicals also aired a special this past Christmas, with yet another Coronation Street actor winning. Catherine Tyldesley took first place with her performance of “Memory” from Cats. Her competition included sports presenter Radzi Chinyanganya and actor Ben Miller.

If the trend continues, Coronation Street actress Lisa George could be a shoe-in for this year’s winner.
