Former Coach of ‘The Voice’ CeeLo Green is Back with a New Summer Song

CeeLo Green, one of the original coaches on The Voice, has a new song out for the summer, and it’s likely to be stuck in your head all day. The tune is called “Baby Don’t You Go-Go,” in collaboration with Rare Essence.
Green is best known for his song “F*ck You” (also known as “Forget You”), as well as his track “Crazy” as part of the duo Gnarls Barkley, with Danger Mouse. This new song is another ear-worm.
CeeLo Green Releases Song ‘Baby Don’t You Go-Go’
It’s appropriate that Green’s song with Rare Essence has “go-go” in the title, considering his collaborators are a legendary go-go band. On the bouncy track, Green sings about trying to win his lover back after she discovered something suspicious.
“Hey, wait a minute / I said baby baby please, baby baby baby please,” CeeLo sings to start the song. “I’m begging and I’m pleading and I’m down on my knees / Now I know you seen another woman picture in my phone / But please don’t leave me alone.”
He spends the rest of the song making promises and begging, “Baby, don’t you go-go.” Green reportedly debuted the song during his performance at the 2020 Soul Train Awards, which aired last November. Last summer, he released his sixth studio album, CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway.

What Do Fans Think of the New Song?
Fans shared their love for the new song in the comments of the lyric video, with one user writing, “I need this sound all summer!!” Another fan wrote, “I’m here for ANYTHING CEE-LO BAYBAY!!!!!!” Someone else shared, “Cee-lo with a historic Go Go band?! Crazy.” There were also plenty of fire emojis being posted in the comments.
In an interview with local D.C. news, Green said the song was “go-go-esque and go-go-inspired.” He added that he wanted to “tap into the rhythm of life” with the song. Andre “Whiteboy” Johnson of Rare Essence said having Green embrace go-go “can only help” make it more popular.
Green said he’s reached out to other bands about collaborating, because he wants to “push the culture forward.”
