The BGT judges had their hearts warmed when 12-year-old singer Henry Gallagher took the stage for his audition in 2015. Henry performed an original song he wrote about a girl he likes.
Henry showed off an amazing stage presence and had the BGT audience cheering for him. Check out his sweet performance in the video below, and find out what the judges said about it.
Henry Gallagher Auditions For ‘BGT’
Henry told the BGT judges he would be singing an original song he wrote called “Lightning.” When asked what it’s about, Henry said, “It’s about a girl that I’d really like to be my girlfriend one day.”
He said he doesn’t think the girl even knows him, and wouldn’t tell the judges her name, saying he doesn’t have the courage to ask her out. His parents said they think the song is “brilliant.”
Henry went on to strum his guitar as he sang, dancing back and forth at the microphone. The audience cheered him on, and at one point Henry even shouted for them to “make some noise.”
What Did The Judges Think Of Henry’s Performance?
“She is gonna have to go out with you now,” David Walliams told Henry after his performance. “You’re so talented,” he added, saying Henry’s pop song could make it to the top of the charts.
“I just wish you would tell us who this girl is, because you would get her in two seconds after that performance,” Amanda Holden told him, saying he’s “lovely.”
Alesha Dixon said she loved that there was “nothing contrived” about Henry, and added that she thinks the song could be a “massive hit.” Simon Cowell agreed, saying it’s “a really, really good song.”
Henry received four “yes” votes from the BGT judges. In the semifinals, he performed the same song again with backup dancers. He didn’t make it to the final, but he continued to perform. You can check out his YouTube channel to see his covers of popular songs.
