VIDEO: Former ‘AGT’ Contestant Dave Fenley Auditions for ‘The Voice’
Reading Time: 2 minutes
The Voice has released a sneak peek at tonight’s episode of Blind Auditions. And if you watch America’s Got Talent, there may be a familiar face in it! Let me introduce Dave Fenley, a country singer meets beatboxer from Lufkin, Texas. Dave was on season 8 of AGT, where he made it to the Semifinals. He is back on the small screen, singing Travis Tritt’s “Help Me Hold On.”
Watch his “leaked” Blind Audition here:
Such a cool voice! We saw some great country singers in the first week of shows but I think Dave has the most potential to go far. He already did it once on AGT after all! It’ll be interesting to see someone like him go up again 13-year-old Kennedy Holmes down the road. Dave is clearly extremely experienced. He has great control and tone and knows the intricacies in his voice. An artist like this just needs a big break!
Kelly turned first, saying “I love your voice” during his Blind Audition. Then, Blake turned his chair about 30 seconds later. Both Kelly and Blake were loving his song choice and singing along. Despite not turning, Adam said “You’re one of my favorites in the competition.” He then encouraged Dave to go with Kelly, per usual. JHud didn’t turn either but said Dave “deserves to be all over country music.” Blake showed off his knowledge of Travis Tritt when he tried to win him over. Kelly went on to say Travis Tritt is her “favorite male vocalist in country,” though Blake playfully resented that. Blake came in strong with his final pitch and even though Kelly brought out her crown, I think Dave will end up on Team Blake.
I see Dave Fenley as someone like Sundance Head too. He can do some interesting covers of non-country songs, as he did on AGT, which will give him an even larger fan base. I mean, come on, you heard the guy beatbox! And if you thought that was good, you HAVE to watch him cover “Say You’ll Be There.”
