America’s Got Talent has shared an early release audition from Tuesday night’s new episode of Season 20, featuring a rapper named Mama Duke. She performed an upbeat original song, impressing the judges.
Rapper Wows in AGT Early Release Audition
Before her audition, Mama Duke said that she was auditioning for AGT “to prove to myself that it’s time.” She shared that she’s from Austin, Texas, and has had many jobs — from barista to YMCA employee. She went on to perform an original song called “Feels So Good to Be You.”
It turned out to be the perfect title, because it was definitely a feel-good track. Mama Duke’s performance had the audience cheering and the judges smiling. Sofia Vergara could be seen dancing along in her seat. The panel was so impressed, they gave the audition a standing ovation.
Mel B said the song is “already a hit,” praising Mama Duke’s confidence. Simon Cowell appreciated that she was prepared with a backing track. All four judges voted “yes” to sending Mama Duke forward in the competition.
“I’m not even here right now,” Mama Duke told host Terry Crews when she walked off the stage, stunned by the judges’ reaction to her performance. Meanwhile, Mel B was still singing along to the song.
AGT Season 20 continues on Tuesday night with the fourth week of auditions, airing at 8/7c on NBC. So far this season, four acts have earned the Golden Buzzer from the judges, sending them straight into the live shows.
In the season premiere, light-up dance group LightWire received the honor from Simon Cowell, while Howie Mandel pressed the Golden Buzzer for singer Jourdan Blue. Then in the second week, Mel B pressed the Golden Buzzer for returning act the Messoudi Brothers. The following week, she hit a second Golden Buzzer for inspiring singer Charity Lockhart.
