NBC Releases New ‘AGT: The Champions’ Promo
Reading Time: 2 minutes
America’s Got Talent: The Champions is only about 6 weeks away, which means we’re going to be seeing and hearing a lot more about the show in the near future. Like this awesome new promo NBC recently released!
The trailer makes it clear that in addition to some of our AGT favorites of the past, we’ll be seeing acts from all over the world that many viewers only aware of the American version have likely never seen or heard of before. This is good because the concept of the show can admittedly be a bit confusing; the show is called America’s Got Talent: The Champions, but most of the acts are from America’s Got Talent OR are champions of another version of the show, not both. (And some – like Susan Boyle – are neither, but are noteworthy alumni of their respective Got Talent programs nonetheless.)
To be clear: all of this is more than fine; after all, there’d be a very small pool of contestants to choose from if winning AGT was a specific requirement to be on the show. It’s just going to take some explaining to get everyone watching caught up to speed, so I’m glad NBC is getting on that early.
As for the talent itself, what can I say other than the performances already look breathtaking even just from the millisecond-long snippets and that it’s going to be so exciting seeing all these amazing acts under one roof? NBC has officially released the names of half of the 50 contestants competing on the show, but taking a close look at that promo I can see that not all of the acts featured in it are on the list. Interesting indeed…
Oh, and we got a taste of first-time Got Talent host Terry Crews in the video too! He seems super-enthusiastic which is a great start. I’m actually on the verge of making the bold statement that Terry could be the greatest AGT host yet. (Though that end-of-video stinger was certainly no “hi-hi, it’s Ty-Ty!” but really, will any of those ever be as iconic as that one was?)
America’s Got Talent: The Champions will premiere Monday, January 7 at 8/7c on NBC.
