Jonah Prill is currently representing Montana on American Song Contest with his song “Fire It Up.” The country singer is officially heading to the Semifinals thanks to the audience vote. Music runs in Jonah’s family, and he’s already big on TikTok.

Jonah Prill’s Grandfather Was a Country Singer

Jonah’s grandfather Dean Evans was a country singer with a song called “Lottin Dottin.” Evans eventually chose to move to Montana and become a cowboy. According to his NBC bio, Jonah has been performing from a young age, at school assemblies and in choirs and bands.

Jonah grew up in Billings, Montana. According to his website, he spent his time hiking, riding a four-wheeler, and listening to music in his dad’s car. “Wild horses and open spaces are so underrated,” he said of his Montana upbringing.

The singer played football in high school, and he eventually learned to play guitar and ended up booking gigs around town. Until recently, he worked as a landscaper. But things changed when he decided to start uploading videos to TikTok.

Jonah Made a Name for Himself on TikTok

Jonah started posting videos on TikTok showing his everyday life — riding horses, working with cattle, and riding around in his truck. He also shared clips of himself singing and playing guitar. He soon gained an impressive following, which has now reached over 800,000 people.

“It’s sort of like…this is where I’m from and these my roots and this is a crazy wild idea that I have to become a country music superstar, but I’m going for it,” Jonah told People last year. “It was a tough decision to quit the landscaping job. I liked working there. I liked the hard work and the labor aspect, but this new career of mine is so much fun and fulfilling and it’s definitely a dream to be chasing all of this.”

According to his website, Jonah has been booking more shows and even making trips to Nashville to write songs. In addition to “Fire It Up,” the singer has released several more singles over the past few years.

You Can Listen to Jonah’s Music Now

In 2020, Jonah put out the song “Friday Night.” He followed that up with “You Remind Me,” “Cowboy $hit,” and “Ride With Me.” Last year, he even put out a music video for “Cowboy $hit,” which was filmed on his drummer’s ranch and featured Jonah’s friends.

“There are certain things in music that I want to accomplish for my sake because I’ve had dreams of doing this since I was a kid,” Jonah said in an interview. “I’ve had the same accomplishment goals then that I do now. If I set out in this journey and crushed those goals, then that would be a success.”

Tune in to the American Song Contest Semifinals to find out if Jonah makes it to the next round.
