‘AGT’ Still The Ratings King Of The Summer
Reading Time: 1 minutes
There is no show on TV right now that can touch America’s Got Talent. I mean, nothing comes close. The next highest rated show on Tuesday nights, Bachelor in Paradise, has HALF the ratings of AGT. It’s not the highest rated show on TV but it is in the top 5. I’m not sure exactly what the magic of AGT is but I know I like it too.
Last Tuesday they got a 2.0 share or about 10.9 million viewers. That’s not the highest ratings they’ve gotten all season, but it’s pretty steady. Of all the talent shows we cover only The Voice come close to those numbers. It’s not hard to see why AGT is such a success. Beside the fact that they have fun acts you can’t see anywhere on TV, you also can watch it with the entire family. With the possible exception of the comedy stylings of Vicki Barbolak this season, it’s all pretty kid friendly entertainment.
The reason, I think, that AGT does better than the singing shows is that their formats are a little stale. We’ve seen those types of shows before and there aren’t as many surprises. I imagine that as the live shows progress and we get closer to the finale we are going to see the ratings increase even more.
