Former Dancing with the Stars pros and married couple Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd have moved from California to Florida with their three children. The pair shared the news on Instagram earlier this week.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Peta Murgatroyd Move to Florida
Earlier this week, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd shared a video on Instagram in which they can be seen holding up a sign that reads, “WE MOVED TO FLORIDA.” The couple proceeds to dance together in what is presumably their backyard. Their two youngest kids, Rio and Milan, also appear in the video.
“Leaving behind the place we’d called home for so many years wasn’t easy, but sometimes the biggest leaps lead you exactly where you’re meant to be,” the post’s caption reads. “The happiness, the slower pace, the sunshine, watching our boys love every second of it… it’s everything we hoped for and more. Worth every box. Every goodbye. Every unknown. No looking back… only looking forward.”
The couple received support from several DWTS co-stars in the comments, including judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who congratulated them on the move. The couple’s sister-in-law and fellow DWTS pro Jenna Johnson wrote, “I’m liking this post but crying while doing so! Miss you already.”
In addition to their Instagram announcement, the couple also posted a moving vlog on YouTube. The video opens with a clip of Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd crying in the car, with moving boxes in the backseat.
Another clip shows the couple’s children (including their oldest son Shai) helping to pack things up in their old home. As Murgatroyd wrote in their Instagram post announcing the vlog, “Something new is never easy.”
“There are tears you don’t expect, goodbyes that hit harder than you imagined, and moments where you wonder if you’re making the right decision,” the post continues. “But sometimes you have to leave what’s comfortable to find what’s meant for you.”
