‘American Song Contest’ Recap: Tennessee’s Country Artist Wins Jury Vote
Reading Time: 2 minutes
American Song Contest returned to NBC with bigger and better performances for the series third episode. Many artists impressed tonight on the American Song Contest stage, but Tennessee’s country singer, Tyler Braden, maintained the popular vote all night and left with the third ever jury vote.
Last week, The Voice winner Jordan Smith representing Kentucky impressed with his original song “Sparrow.” His song and performance was so flawless that the jury voted him into the semi finals at the conclusion of the episode. Joining Smith in the semifinals is Chloe Fredericks from North Dakota, Broderick Jones from Kansas, and Jonah Prill from Montana.
American Song Contest Premieres Personal Tracks
Ni/Co representing Alabama quickly earned the roar of the audience. Their voices fit well together throughout their emotional performance. I don’t think they had the best vocals of the artists seen, but I think their chemistry is undeniable.
Tiktoker Brooke Alexx took the stage on American Song Contest. Her tune for the competition is “I Don’t Take Pictures Anymore.” This artist hopes her track instills confidence people in the way New Jersey instilled confidence in her. This felt like an energetic mix of a Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo performance.
Ale Zabala’s performed “Flirt,” a song similar to Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass.” Ale Zabala’s stage was filled with pink tones, balloons, and overall good vibes. This song wasn’t quite bubble gum pop, but more of an R&B and Latin Pop mix.
The Masked Singer winner, Jewel representing Alaska, performed “The Story,” which introduces her journey to the world. It seems like the music icon is trying to begin a new chapter, while also reminiscing on her prior successful career.
Riker Lynch representing Colorado performs tropical music with his current group Riker and The Beachcombers. Growing up, he was apart of the family band R5, which included his brother Ross Lynch, known for multiple his roles on Disney Channel. Riker sang the upbeat tune “Feel The Love” to finish out the show.
Country Artist Tyler Braden Wins Jury Vote
The artist representing Tennessee sat in first place of the popular vote for the majority of the night. This singer took the stage and impressed with his song “Seventeen.” Tyler is the first country artist with more of a traditional sound on American Song Contest, so I wasn’t surprised that America loved him.
At the end of the night, Tyler was sent through to the next round of the competition. Fans will find out which artists will continue into the semi finals alongside Tyler in the beginning of next episode. American Song Contest returns to NBC live on Monday, April 11 from 8 to 10 p.m. ET. Voting is now open on NBC’s website, app, and TikTok until 7 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
