Former ‘BGT’ Contestant Alexis Conomoux Reveals Her Dark Past

Unfortunately, many talent show contestant have turned down a dark path since their time on screen. The case of Alexis Conomoux of Britain’s Got Talent is sadly no different. The former Golden Buzzer recipient has since turned to a career in modeling and appeared on the reality series, Married At First Sight UK. During her time on the series, her dark past involving drugs and jail time was revealed.
Alexis Conomoux Faced Jail time and Drug Charges
The now 28-year-old public figure caught herself in a bit of trouble back in 2013. That year, Alexis snuck cannabis with a street value of 10 British Pounds into prison while visiting her ex-boyfriend, Kayode Oshin. The pair were dating for two years before he was jailed for three and a half years on drug charges. Alexis claims her love was the root cause of her actions at the time.
“I know it sounds bad, but being arrested for drugs isn’t unusual where I’m from,” she explained. “I had no idea about the other things he’d done. I was in love and I just wanted to help him. On my sixth visit I brought drugs with me to prison. I knew it was wrong. As I walked up to the prison, my heart was racing, I had a million different things going through my head. I was absolutely terrified when I walked into the prison. They did a body search but I’d hidden it in my bra so they didn’t find it.”
Ultimately, a judge ordered the former singer to complete 150 hours of community service. She was ordered to serve at her local Oxfam shop alongside her three-and-a-half month suspended sentence. Following her arrest, she ended her relationship with Oshin. Later on, she discovered he was sentenced to 22 years for attempted murder and possession of a firearm in 2011.
The Former BGT Contestant in the Limelight
Alexis auditioned for BGT for series eight of the show as a member of REAformed. The girl group killed it in their audition and proved talented enough to receive the Golden Buzzer.
The trio sang “I’ve Got the Music in Me” by The Kiki Dee Band in their on stage debut and was catapulted to the Semifinals round. At this stage in the competition, the girl group sang “End of Time” by Beyonce. They delivered a dynamic and choreographed performance, but ended up taking sixth place in the competition that year.
Years later, Alexis found herself a career as a model and ended up on the show Married At First Sight. On the show, her past came to light as she returned to the series with a new partner. The model is now dating Ant Poole following marriages to Jordan Mundell and Nikita Jasmine.
