Tomorrow night the fourth episode of America’s Got Talent: The Champions will air, but the show has “leaked” another sneak peek to tide us over until then.

Which act’s performance was released this time? None other than that of comedic mime Tape Face!

The whole motif behind Tape Face’s acts is the idea of making something from nothing (okay, something from very little). It’s like watching a kid play pretend with whatever’s lying around the house. In this performance, he turned judge Howie Mandel into a DJ with just a few simple props, including a record scratch sound effect created with a spoon and cutting board. He then turned host Terry Crews into a stripper and gave him the golden buzzer! (Well, his golden buzzer; we’ll still have to wait until the episode airs to see Simon Cowell hit the official one!)

Speaking of hosts, we got a tiny “cameo” of Nick Cannon at the beginning of the intro! It was only a small bit of archived footage and audio from when Tape Face’s Season 11 days, but we honestly never thought we’d get a reference to him on AGT ever again, so it was a bit of a surprise to suddenly see him, even for a couple of seconds. (Though we’re glad to see him on talent show hosting duty again for The Masked Singer.)

One thing that’s not mentioned a lot when it comes to Tape Face is how he “teaches” the people who participate in his act. He can’t instruct them verbally, so he has to physically show them what to do, and must do so in the quickest way possible in order to keep the audience’s full attention and not to disrupt the flow of the act. It’s a very underrated part of his act and I’m always amazed at how well he is able to do it, especially back when he was performing in the live shows during Season 11, without the “safety net” of being able to have his performances edited.

Tape Face is one of America’s Got Talent‘s great success stories. He was performing at festivals long before his time on the show, but after competing on Season 11 and finishing as a top 10 finalist, he toured across North America and now has a residency in Las Vegas at the “House of Tape”!

My friend was stopped by some tourists to take a photo of them in front of an advertisement for Tape Face in Las Vegas… My friend IS Tape Face. from r/funny
