‘The Four’s Zhavia Announces Biggest Collaboration Yet with Disney and Zayn Malik
Since her appearance on season one of The Four, Zhavia Ward has found massive success. She has collaborated with huge names like Diplo, French Montana, and Lil Pump. But now, Zhavia has announced her biggest collaboration yet! She and Zayn (yes, Zayn from One Direction) performed a cover of “A Whole New World” for the Aladdin soundtrack.
You can hear a preview of their duet below.
This feature continues Zhavia’s streak of success. She started by signing a multi-million dollar deal with Sony’s Columbia Records. Zhavia has since released three singles, “Candlelight,” “Deep Down,” and “100 Ways.” She also did a remix of “Candlelight” with Jeremih.
Working with all these big names and labels in music is huge for Zhavia’s career. But no paycheck is better than Disney’s! This cover of “A Whole New World” with Zayn is her biggest move yet. It will be on the soundtrack for the new live-action Aladdin movie coming out later this month.
The story of how the duet came together is pretty crazy too! According to Mitchell Leib, president of Music & Soundtracks for the Walt Disney Studios, said “Zayn’s vocals are like no other and his artistic imprint immediately brought a contemporary and diverse presence. Additionally, Zayn could have chosen any artist in the world to collaborate with on the duet, but he personally selected Zhavia for her unique perspective, powerful vocal abilities and to platform a talented new artist, ensuring that the audience could discover this song, again, for the first time.”
That is a HUGE compliment! Zhavia was hand-selected by Zayn to join him on this duet. And honestly, it makes sense. They both sound amazing! Zhavia is showing off her impressive vocals right along side an original member of One Direction? I’m sure that is not where she expected her career to end up, but no one is complaining.
The full soundtrack will feature another familiar voice from The Four as well! Judge DJ Khaled came together with Will Smith to record a new version of “Friend Like Me” for the album. Aladdin hits theaters on May 24, and the soundtrack is slated for a May 22 release.
