You Won’t Believe How Katy Perry Met Fiancé Orlando Bloom
Youtube Ever wonder how Katy Perry met her now-fiancé Orlando Bloom? Lucky for you, Katy herself revealed the story in this week’s American Idol premiere. Get ready for a meet-cute worthy of a romantic comedy.
Katy was inspired to share the story by auditioning singer Johanna Jones. The pair bonded over their shared habit of eating potato chips before performing. They also had a chip-eating contest, but that wasn’t the only food-related bonding they did.
Johanna shared that she works at In-N-Out Burger, and Katy is clearly a fan. “I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out,” she said. We’re pretty sure she’s talking about Orlando Bloom, to whom she’s now engaged. At the Golden Globes, Katy said she had her security guard get “ten In-N-Outs.”
“And he wasn’t even sitting at our table,” Katy said of Orlando. “He just swoops in and he grabs it, and I’m like, ‘Hey, that’s my burger!'”
Fellow judge Luke Bryan filled in what he imagined she said next, with an implied eyelash flutter: “Oh, you’re on the other end of that hand.”
And the rest is history. As Johanna herself said, “In-N-Out creates true love.”
The Golden Globes Katy referred to occurred in January 2016. Photos from the night showed Orlando whispering in Katy’s ear. They’ve been on-again-off-again ever since, all the way to Orlando’s Valentine’s Day proposal this year.
We tune in to American Idol for the amazing singing, but it never hurts when we can get a little gossip on the side. And Katy Perry never fails to serve us all that and a bag of chips.
