Monica Michael Came Back For Redmeption On ‘The X Factor’
Monica found it hard to fit in growing up and had a rebellious phase in her teen years. Music was the one thing that helped her feel better. While Monica was nervous for her audition the first time around, she just wanted to make her little sister Natalie proud. The song that she performed in front of the judges is a song that she had written for Natalie. This caused judge Cheryl to sob uncontrollably.
“You’re just real from the core and it really touched me because my sister writes me poems and she has since I was little so I completely related to that song,” Cheryl said. “And for that to be your song tells me you are super talented. You’re just rough around the edges, you haven’t had a break yet.” Unfortunately, she was eliminated in the Six Chair Challenge which earned a ton of outrage.
She came back for redemption the following season and the judges complimented her style and new look. This time Cheryl was on the judging panel again along with singer Rita Ora. The judges were so impressed with her growth in a year. She made it to the next round of the competition. Rita mentored her group and did not immediately choose to send her to the Live Shows after singing a heartfelt song about her brother’s death. But, she was chosen as the wildcard which did send her to the Live Shows. She was later eliminated in week three of the Live Shows.
Where Is She Now?
Most people might remember Monica from the big on-stage blunder suffered by host Olly Murs. He accidentally said that Monica was going home before all of the judge’s votes were counted when she landed in the bottom two. Olly later tweeted that he is “still learning and hope that never happens again.”
Monica was later blasted after she made a gun reference with her hands during her elimination and shouted “BANG, BANG, BANG.” When this happened, the camera awkwardly panned to the audience but people at home managed to catch a glimpse of this. Many found it insensitive because it way days after the Paris attacks.
After appearing on The X Factor, Monica showed off her five stone weight loss in 2016. She got a gastric band after struggling with food addiction for years. She has put out some original music available over on YouTube but it does appear that her Instagram account is currently set to private.
