This week is the finale of season 2 of The Four: Battle for Stardom and the question, (besides who will win), is whether or not they will get a third season. If Meghan Trainor and Diddy are to be believed, nothing is certain yet.
Let’s face it, the show’s ratings haven’t been stellar this season. They’ve improved over time and last week they had their best night yet, but the numbers are not very good. There are a lot of factors contributing to this including The Four’s audience being younger and watching the content online which doesn’t really get counted in the ratings. Also, this season is lacking the Zhavia factor from last season. When we asked Meghan about season 3 on the red carpet she said,
“I really hope season 3 exists! I hope we get picked up for another one, that would be incredible”
This was last week that she didn’t know if they had been picked up for another season. Then Diddy added this on an IGTV story,
“You know…there’s a lot of factors that go into that. I believe there is going to be a season 3 but we have to see what Fox, feels to be honest. If they want to do it I know that we with it. But we got to finish this season and we have to deliver and that’s the game we’re into. We have to deliver a show that people are compelled by and people are into and I think that that’s when they make that decision.”
So, what’s going to happen? I don’t know. I feel like Fox is waiting to see what numbers the finale pulls in on Thursday and then they’ll decide. After all, this show cannot be cheap to make. Diddy doesn’t get out of bed unless you pay him several million.
