In almost every season of Dancing With the Stars, there’s that one star who is not the best dancer, but manages to make it pretty far in the competition. Undeniably, that honor belongs to Sean Spicer on this season.

The former White House Press Secretary had a lengthy journey this season, but was near the bottom of the rankings week after week. And while his inclusion in the cast was controversial, he managed to slide through week after week.

Sean’s First Set Performances

In the first week, Sean and his pro partner Lindsay Arnold danced a Salsa to “Spice Up Your Life,” by the Spice Girls. The dance was the second-lowest of the night, earning a four from each judge. Although his form needed work, he definitely looked like he was having a ton of fun!

Sean and Lindsey followed up their first performance with a Tango to “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon. And, despite not being the best dancer, he managed to score higher than three other couples that week! Sean and Lindsay also stayed out of the bottom two, with Mary Wilson from The Supremes going home.

Sean went on to dance a Cha-cha-cha in week three to “Night Fever” by the Bee Gees. It earned a fifteen from the judges. He managed to escape the bottom two again, as former NFL player Ray Lewis withdrew due to injury.

While Sean had a rough couple of weeks, he earned his highest score at the time in Week Four, dancing a Paso Doble with Lindsay to Bamboleo by the Gypsy Kings. He earned a solid 21 points while NBA player Lamar Odom was eliminated.

Bottom of the DWtS Leaderboard

Despite his consistent low scores, Sean and Lindsay had yet to be on the bottom of the leaderboard. That changed during Disney Week, when they scored a nineteen, with a Quickstep to “You’ve Got A Friend in Me,” by Randy Newman. However, because it was Disney Week, no couples went home.

The couple performed a Viennese Waltz to “Somebody to Love” by Queen in Week Six. And, despite the fact they were at the bottom of the leaderboard, the dance was actually very good! Sean and Lindsay were safe, while Sailor Brinkley-Cook went home.

Week Seven’s Halloween Night saw Lindsey and Sean dancing a jive to Monster Mash by Bobby Pickett. They also danced a group routine with Karamo Brown, Kel Mitchell, Kate Flannery and their partners. And while Sean and Lindsey were again safe, one of their group members, Karamo Brown from Queer Eye went home.

New Partner & Final Weeks

Sean’s partner Lindsey unfortunately had a death in her family during the week, so backup pro Jenna Johnson stepped in to dance with him. They danced a Jazz routine to “Come Sail Away,” by Styx. They also lost a dance-off to Kate Flannery and Pasha Pashkov, but ultimately were safe. Flannery and Pashkov were eliminated.

In his final week, Jenna and Sean danced two routines, a Foxtrot to “Story of My Life,” by One Direction, and a Argentine Tango to “Bills, Bills, Bills,” by Destiny’s Child. However, even though his Argentine Tango was his highest scoring routine of the season, Sean and Jenna ended up in the bottom two with Lauren Alaina and her partner Gleb Savchenko. The judges elected to save Alaina, and Sean was sent home.
