Catie Turner brought her positive energy and quirky style to the stage on American Idol Season 16. And it turns out that positivity extends to her real life, even when she’s in the hospital.

The 19-year-old singer posted an update for her followers on Instagram Friday. Read on to find out why Catie is in the hospital, and how she’s keeping her spirits up.

Why Is Catie Turner In The Hospital?

Catie posted a photo of herself in a hospital gown and knit hat, standing next to an IV stand covered in Christmas bells. She appears to be laughing, with her hand covering her mouth.

The singer captioned the photo by writing that she’s “celebrating harry styles album release day with my christmas pole.” She made sure to add that she’ll “be ok,” as she has her One Direction blanket with her.

So why is Catie in the hospital? When someone commented that this was “peak good coping mechanism,” Catie replied, “my kidneys may be trying to kill me but harry will get to it first.”

Earlier this week, she tweeted that her kidney was “infected,” and she was on morphine. She added later that she felt “like poop.”

What Has Catie Been Up To Since ‘American Idol’?

Catie finished Season 16 of American Idol in sixth place. She auditioned for the show with an original song called “21st Century Machine,” and was the first artist of the season to receive a golden ticket to Hollywood.

AMERICAN IDOL’S CATIE TURNER…A FASHIONISTA?

After the show, she appeared on the American Idol live tour, and opened for Meghan Trainor in Atlantic City. Earlier this year, she released her first EP called The Sad Vegan, and embarked on a tour for it.
