We think AGT winner Kodi Lee should have won at the People’s Choice Awards on Sunday. The singer was nominated for Competition Contestant of 2019, but he lost to Bachelorette star (and current DWTS contestant) Hannah Brown.

No offense to Hannah, but we think Kodi deserved the award. AGT won Competition Show of 2019, and it would have been great to see him win as well. Read on to find out why we were rooting for the Season 14 champ, and why he’s a winner in our hearts.

Kodi Lee Deserved To Win A People’s Choice Award

Although people clearly liked Hannah enough to vote for her, we have to question whether she really fit the category. Considering she was the titular Bachelorette, she wasn’t really a “contestant.” Rather, she was the one making the decisions about who stayed and left.

But even aside from that technicality, Kodi’s appearance on AGT totally made him the contestant of the year in our opinion. His story of being blind and autistic, and how his love for music affected him, touched so many people. Not to mention how incredibly talented he is.

Kodi’s audition earned the Golden Buzzer from Gabrielle Union and made a splash on social media. He went on to earn the public’s vote from week to week until he was crowned the season’s winner. Certainly a journey like that deserves to be recognized.

What Is Kodi Lee Doing Now?

Kodi won the million-dollar prize for Season 14, and he also recently headlined a show in Las Vegas. The show also featured AGT contestants Detroit Youth Choir, Ryan Niemiller, V. Unbeatable, and Tyler Butler-Figueroa.

The singer also recently performed at Liberty University’s convocation in Lynchburg, Virginia. If you were hoping to see Kodi on AGT: The Champions, however, we’re sorry to say that doesn’t look like it’s happening.

Kodi may not have a People’s Choice Award, but he definitely has a great career ahead of him. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
