With everyone talking about The Masked Singer these days, it’s no surprise that a few parodies have emerged. One of those comes from talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, who decided that the show’s format would be more fun if the masked celebrities showed off their best dance moves instead of singing.
Ellen has done several installments of “The Masked Dancer” with her DJ tWitch helping her guess, and this week’s mystery guest turned out to be rather interesting. They emerged wearing a dog mask and busted a few moves that put Elaine from Seinfeld to shame.
The celebrity’s clues were even more cryptic than the ones on The Masked Singer. They revealed that they were born on a Thursday, had vowels in both their first and last name, and had appeared on Ellen’s show without a mask.
Once they were finished performing, the out-of-breath star then answered questions from the judges (including The Masked Singer judge Ken Jeong). The answers were mostly unhelpful, although they did reveal they had done stand-up comedy.
So who did the masked dancer turn out to be? The answer is … Howie Mandel!
This is an interesting talent show crossover. Howie is a judge on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, which airs on Ellen’s network NBC. The Masked Singer and Ken Jeong, however, live on FOX. Who says these shows have to be in competition with each other? Obviously not Ellen.
As we mentioned, this isn’t the first “Masked Dancer” segment Ellen has hosted. Check out the two previous installments below and see if you can guess who’s under the masks. One of the incognito celebrities will look very familiar to Masked Singer fans.
