The 19-year-old from Sicily might have just been nervous, but when he opened his mouth to sing, everyone’s jaws dropped to the floor. Luca Di Stefano Brought His Unique Voice To ‘America’s Got Talent’
Seeing shocking acts on ‘AGT’ is not out of the ordinary. But for this act, in particular, it was all about stage presence from the start. When Di Stefano was conversing with the judges on stage before his performance, he seemed less than enthused. This could just be because of nerves and being on the biggest stage in the history of reality talent competitions. “Are you happy to be here tonight?” asked judge Sofia Vergara. “Yeah I’m so happy,” Di Stefano said with a lack of liveliness. “You didn’t sound happy when you said it,” Vergara said through laughter. “No you didn’t,” agreed Heidi Klum.
Even before the show aired, Di Stefano posted a tweet detailing how excited he was for people to see his ‘AGT’ journey, and he looked less than amused in the picture. But, some people naturally get nervous on stage and that’s ok. It’s the talent that matters most.
Di Stefano revealed to the judges that he was in fact nervous and that it was a big factor why he was being so timid on stage. “How did this dream start?” asked Klum. “What?” replied Di Stefano. It was then that Vergara told Klum that nobody could understand her because of her accent. Yet another reason why everyone absolutely loves Vergara as a judge on America’s Got Talent, she is purely hilarious.
This Performance Was A Complete Shock To Both The Judges And The Audience
After hearing him converse with the judges, nobody could really predict how Di Stefano’s performance was going to go. As a singer, stage presence is very important but he definitely let his talent speak for itself. When he first started singing, Simon Cowell looked extremely confused. He could not believe such a soulful deep voice was coming out of the same guy that just looked like a nervous wreck. Di Stefano completely blew everyone away with his rendition of “Let’s Get It On.” So much so that during the performance, Klum said “That’s his voice? That’s crazy.” Cowell could not wipe the smile off his face throughout the performance and he is definitely the hardest to impress.

Klum gave him a standing ovation after this feel-good performance and the audience was on their feet the entire time. Vergara was just in utter shock that such a rich and sultry voice came out of Di Stefano’s mouth. “The one thing I love about this show are surprises and moments and I wasn’t expecting that out of you and I could hear you sing that all night long,” said Howie Mandel. Klum thought that it was a playback track and that he wasn’t really singing, that’s how shocking the performance was. And perhaps the most shocking moment of all was not that he got four yes’s from the judges to move on to the next round, but that they tried to imitate his deep voice. Cowell actually did a pretty good job of doing so.
