WATCH ‘The Voice’ Singer Pour Raw Emotions Into Sam Smith Song During Blind Auditions
Ignatious Carmouche had one of the most memorable auditions on season 13 of The Voice when he took on Sam Smith’s “Latch.” The song is about love and having a very deep emotional connection with someone which Ignatious truly captured in his Blind Audition. Check out the performance below.
Ignatious Carmouche Performed Emotional Song On ‘The Voice’
Ignatious grew up singing in church and was very shy. His confidence grew over time and he even co-founded his own music ministry. He actually won “The Voice on Snapchat” competition. He sent a video of himself singing “Pretty Wings” by Maxwell. He was the winner chosen out of 20,000 submissions which prompted him to come and audition for season 13 of The Voice. For his Blind Audition, he wanted to make every second count.
Right from the start of the song, it was clear that coach Jennifer Hudson was very moved by the audition. There were a few times where she went to press her button but wanted to listen to each and every note. Finally, Jennifer realized that she was running out of time and needed to hit her button for this incredible singer. In a huge surprising moment, Blake Shelton also hit his button and couldn’t deny that Ignatious has talent even if it’s in a different genre.
Adam Levine wanted to make sure that Ignatious did not end up on his longtime rival Blake’s team. He simply said that while Blake is a great coach, he would not be the right coach to choose in this particular instance. Adam encouraged him to choose to be on Jennifer’s team. In the end, Ignatiuos chose to be on Team Jennifer. He was later eliminated from the competition after singing “Unaware” against Eric Lyn in The Battles.
“Being surrounded by so many experienced and talented singers was super inspiring and being on that stage seemed like a dream” he told Talent Recap exclusively. “I learned so much from my coach Jennifer Hudson along with the amazing production staff that I still take with me every day in my career.”
Where Is He Now?
After competing on The Voice, Ignatious released a song in 2018 called “This Thing We Call Love.” The song is available on all streaming platforms. He also consistently uploads covers on his YouTube channel. Recently he did a collaboration with fellow artist from The Voice, MaKenzie Thomas. They sang “At A Time Like This” a song with a very powerful message. They shot a music video to accompany the song which now has nearly 74,000 views on YouTube.
“Working with Makenzie Thomas was an experience to be experienced” he said. “She is a force that gives more than what she is asked of. Her ear alone is worth more than money could buy. Makenzie’s voice is only part of what makes her so great and to know her is to love her. What we were able to create in the studio was historic and I am glad to call her a friend.”
This year, Ignatious teased the release of his debut album out on New Years Day. He will also be performing a release concert on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the Apache venue in Atlanta, Georgia. “The album will be available for preorder Christmas Day and ready to download and stream January 1st,” he said excitedly. “I am also looking forward to new connections, opportunities, and success. God has been showing that even when I don’t trust Him, His promises are still true and I am ready for every single one.”
