Selena Gomez is helping us through quarantine by hosting a new cooking show on HBO Max. The star is an amateur chef, and she’s inviting fans into her kitchen with the help of some cooking pros.

Selena Gomez Premieres Cooking Show
In the trailer for her new show, Selena admits that, although she loves to eat, she’s “not the best cook.” That’s why she invited several master chefs to talk her through recipes and techniques remotely.
Some of the dishes Selena prepares include ramen, breakfast tacos, doughnuts, and even octopus! Of course, she’ll make her fair share of mistakes, like spilling things and even setting something on fire.
Selena’s grandparents and friends also appear on the show as her tasters. According to Billboard, the show (which Selena also executive producers) will highlight a food-related charity in each episode. You can check out Selena’s 10-part series starting Thursday, August 13 on the streaming service HBO Max.
Why Did Selena Choose To Start A Cooking Show?
“I’ve always been very vocal about my love of food. I think I’ve been asked hundreds of times in interviews if I had another career, what would I do and I’ve answered that it would be fun to be a chef,” Gomez told AP, explaining that she’s been “experimenting” with food more during the pandemic.
The star later shared that she wanted to create something that would “make people smile.” She admitted, “I look like a fool,” adding, “I love cooking. I just don’t know how to do it all the time.”
And what do the professional chefs who appeared on the show think of Selena’s cooking abilities? “During our cook, I was generally concerned that there was going to be an oil fire,” former Top Chef contestant Antonia Lofaso said of the experience.
